    The Billing/Coding Supervisor oversees the functions and personnel of the billing and coding teams by performing the following duties. This is a full-time exempt position. 

    Job Responsibilities and Duties
    Essential Job Functions:
    • Ensures each patient is given the highest level of customer service and every staff member is treated with the utmost respect
    • Ensures courteous and thorough communications with patients by staff
    • Coordinates activities of all areas of the billing and coding teams to ensure prompt billing and payment and clean claims submissions
    • Reviews, corrects and maintains all daily/weekly accounting documents
    • Maintains reports to monitor each sub-team (Coding, Billing)
    • Maintains an open line of communication with Regional Patient Access Managers
    • Directly oversees all month-end processes within sub-teams
    • Analyzes individual insurance payer performance
    • Identifies and research trend changes and variations to identify impact on business operations
    • Provides regular communication and reporting to Director of Revenue Integrity
    • Interviews, hires and evaluates employees. Mentor, coach and motivate as needed
    • Review and analyze medical records to assure internal consistency and completeness
    • Assures staff is maintaining a consistent input of data into Billing System
    • Assures staff is compliant with both internal and regulatory guidelines when coding medical records
    • Responsible for supervising the activities of the Billing and Coding Department
    • Manage the maintenance of insurance carriers and procedure codes
    • Responsible to oversee the day to day operations of the department to ensure proper staffing and distribution of assignments and/or sites to maximize productivity
    • Must be able to assist and carry through both operational and strategic departments goals in alignment with Adeptus Health
    • Executes processes and plans in line with Management
    • Consistently and effectively implements and monitors policies, workflows, and training
    • Demonstrates appropriate judgment regarding daily operating issues
    • Supports, participates and manages the implementation of new system initiatives
    • Monitors, communicates and implements action plans as needed based on results of customer satisfaction
    • Responds to patient, clinician and family requests; investigates/documents complaints
    • Coordinates resolution of staff issues including major discipline with the Director, Manager and the Human Resources Department
    • Monitors time sheets and overtime management. Reviews for accuracy and approves

    Supervisory Responsibility:
    Responsible for supervision of the billing and coding teams.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience
    • Minimum of Three plus ( 3+) years’ management experience in current or related field
    • Three plus (3+ ) years' supervisory experience in Billing and Coding in acute care setting
    • CPC, CPC-H, CPC-A or CPC-H-A certified
    • Demonstrated knowledge of computer technology and preferred knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Capable of gathering data and making sound decisions in the best interest of the organization
    • Working knowledge of standards and legal requirements of acute care, physician, and free standing emergency room care services
    • Working knowledge of functional relationships between departments within a healthcare or similar environment
    • Demonstrated competence with personal computers, networks, and Microsoft Office Windows, etc.
    • Knowledge of privacy and security regulations, confidentiality, laws, access and release of information practices
    • Knowledge of medical terminology, classification systems, and vocabularies
