    About Adeptus Health

    Adeptus Health owns and operates First Choice Emergency Room in Texas and in partnership with University of Colorado Health (UCHealth) in Colorado. Together with Dignity Health, Adeptus Health also owns and operates Dignity Health Arizona General Hospital and freestanding emergency rooms in the Phoenix area. Adeptus Health also owns and operates First Texas Hospital, a new hospital opening in DFW in late 2015.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:

    • Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand care requirements
    • Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, family members, and significant others in a culturally sensitive and respectful manner
    • Promotes patient's independence by teaching patient and family members to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills
    • Assures quality of care by adhering to evidence-based best practice standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following Company policies and procedures, the standards of care set by the state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other applicable governing agency regulations
    • Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies
    • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with Infection Control and Environment of Care procedures, rules, and regulations
    • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and organizational records, maintaining the confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) and adhering to HIPAA regulations
    • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques. RN's working at our Free-Standing ER’s operate lab equipment, perform point of care testing and quality controls
    • Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
    • RN's working in our hospitals must be able to adapt to changes in workload assignment functioning as Fast Track, Triage, or Charge nurse as needed
    • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies (ENA membership is encouraged)
    • Maintains a cooperative and collaborative relationship among health care team members by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; and participating in team problem-solving methods
    • Remains calm and objective under stressful situations
    • Participates in and contributes to ongoing Quality Assessment and Process Improvement projects
    • Responsible for the overall flow of department and hospital admissions
    • Responsible for rooming patients
    • Duties include daily lab result monitor for all positive cultures and inputting in to lab spreadsheet
    • Review all nurse charting on restraints, input all restraints into restraint spreadsheet and copying all restraint and code charts and ensuring that E.D. Director receives those charts
    • Duties include real time service recovering when patients and or family member complaints
    • Responsible for staff on duty in regards to their behavior, work responsibilities, and or any concerns with an employee that requires immediate attention when E.D. director is not on site or available
    • Run narcotic count once a week
    • Responsible for clearing on discrepancies in Ominicel in real time with employee
    • Handle incoming calls such as patient issues, pharmacy issues and or employee sick calls
    • Make phone calls when staff is short due to a sick call
    • Required to go into floor count when staffing shortage requires
    • Maintain daily transfer log
    • Maintain daily “charge/house supervisor communication form” and “End of Shift Report”
    • Attendance requirements are based on your current role and status of position (FT, PT or PRN).  Please direct attendance requirements to your immediate supervisor and/or refer to the Employee Handbook for more attendance/scheduling details/policies

    Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

    • Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing
    • Current registration and licensure with the Board of Nurse Examiners for the state or a Compact state
    • Must have 3 years of recent ER experience or 2 years of recent Level 1 or 2 Trauma experience with >/=75,000 visits per year (TX)
    • 2 years of recent ER experience (ARIZONA ONLY)
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider, ACLS, and PALS certification required
    • TNCC and CEN certification preferred
