Essential Functions

• Capability to perform vital signs, including pulse ox
• Venipuncture and IV placement
• Clean wounds
• Operate lab equipment; perform point of care testing and quality controls (in the free standing ED)
• Knowledgeable of operation of lab instruments, including but not limited to: Medonic, Triage, Piccolo, ISTAT, UA instruments (turning on/shutting down, running samples, reporting results).
• Document corrective action when QC is out of range for lab equipment
• Monitor and restock supplies
• Report equipment issues to the nurse manager
• Act as a team member of the code team
• Charting/documentation in the medical record
• Various other tasks as directed by the physician on duty
• Assist the Facility Resource Specialist role as needed. This includes but is not limited to the following:
• Obtaining complete and accurate demographic, insurance and financial data to complete patient registration.
• Update and maintain patient database according to established procedures.
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients during check-in and discharge.
• Complete and balance all daily transactions and cash flow paperwork

 

• EMT- Paramedic required, 2 years’ experience required
• 1 year ED hospital experience, preferred
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required through American Heart Association
• Must be dependable, responsible, and interested in assisting with quality emergency patient care
• Ability to relate well with all levels of the hospital/facility and medical staff
• Ability to care for patients of all nationalities and age groups
• Computer Experience
• Knowledge of The Joint Commission accreditation process and requirements
