Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Revenue Cycle-Inhouse, the Billing Specialist is responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of posting charges; verifying insurance benefits and eligibility when necessary; and obtaining medical information from Facilities when required. This is a full time 40 hour per week position.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for accurately posting claims into Centricity. Have a general understanding of the coding procedure of ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases) and CPT-4 (Current Procedural Terminology)
  • Check to verify that claims have been posted correctly with no error and are approved by Centricity
  • Responsible for working claims that have been rejected in billing system
  • Adding insure to system as needed
  • Perform all other tasks as assigned by supervisor
  • Attendance requirements are based on your current role and status of position (FT, PT or PRN).  Please direct attendance requirements to your immediate supervisor and/or refer to the Employee Handbook for more attendance/scheduling details/policies

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

 

  • High school diploma required
  • 6 months experience in an office setting
  • Strong PC skills
  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully with all types of personnel, medical staff and the public
